Romans: The Gospel for Everyone — Week 15 - Romans 6:15-23

Romans 6:15-23 turns on a single image the first-century church understood instinctively: slavery. Paul argues that everyone serves a master—either sin, which leads to death, or obedience, which leads to righteousness—and that this allegiance is freely chosen. This message is candid that the text brings discomfort. It insists the law and faith are connected gifts, that grace does not license sin, and that the blessings of God flow from obedience to God. A central claim recurs: obedience is the key that unlocks every door to a deeper walk with Jesus. The sermon closes on the contrast in verse 23— the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus —and the freedom only Jesus can give.
