Romans: The Gospel for Everyone — Week 28 - Romans 12:9-21

Romans 12:9-21 is a rapid-fire portrait of what marks a follower of Jesus. The heading over it all is verse 9: love must be sincere —un-hypocritical, without a mask, rooted not in obligation but in the love first shown to us. The message moves through hating evil (beginning with our own sin), honoring one another, joyful hope amid affliction, unrelenting prayer, contagious generosity, and blessing persecutors. Each is read as a basic, foundational virtue, not an advanced one. The closing instruction— do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good —grounds the whole section: a life offered as a living sacrifice is a life of genuine love for God and people.
