Romans: The Gospel for Everyone — Week 8 - Romans 3:27-21
from LifeWell Messages
Is there any part of salvation we contribute? Romans 3:27-31 answers no—a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law, leaving nothing to boast in. This message urges memorizing verse 28 as a hill worth dying on. Three things are cherished as a result: we can rest in the sufficiency of Jesus rather than living anxiously under works; the path to salvation is the same for everyone everywhere; and Jesus came not merely as a moral example but as our ransom. Salvation is inclusively exclusive—offered to all, but only through Christ. The second half answers whether faith abolishes the law. Not at all; faith fulfills it. Law and faith are not opponents but connected gifts—the law shows our need for faith, and faith enables us to walk it out. Jesus wants to be not only Savior but Lord.
