Romans, The Righteousness of God Revealed Part 7: Alive unto God

from Redeemer Coast Church Podcast · host RedeemerCoast

Romans 6:4-7 “Therefore we were buried with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in the likeness of his death, we will certainly also be in the likeness of his resurrection. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be rendered powerless so that we may no longer be enslaved to sin, since a person who has died is freed from sin.” In the first five chapters of Romans, Paul established the truth that righteousness is received by grace through faith. Then in Romans chapters 6-8, he talks about how to live out that righteousness. When Paul wrote the letter to the church in Rome, he was addressing two groups of people coming from different backgrounds. Those who were once Gentiles were the ones who lived life their own way, without the Law. And then there were the Jews, those who tried to earn righteousness through their own ability, but now that they are In Christ, their identity is neither in their past sin, nor in their works, their identity is in Christ.
