Today on the Podcast, Sadie introduces us to Fanny Mendelssohn, an 18th-century composer, and pianist. Although Fanny is often overshadowed by her brother who was able to pursue music, Fanny was able to rise above the gender constraints of the time and become a recognized prodigy and composer. We talk about her wealthy family and her early life as a prodigy. We also discuss her slow-burning career, her marriage to a painter, her brief friendship with Clara Schumann, and much more! Episodes like this one: Clara Schumann, Nora Holt, The Boulanger SistersFollow us on Instagram @morethanamuse.podcastSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
