Ronnie James Dio - A 5-Hour Radio Tribute

from Black Night Meditations - Underground Metal Radio · host Black Night Meditations

Sunday, May 16th 2010 was the saddest day in Metal history. Truly a black sabbath. Ronnie James Dio was gone. There will never, ever be a greater loss. I've had many influences, people who've impacted my Metal life. None had more impact than Ronnie James Dio. I could attempt to explain how important Dio was to me, but I don't think I could accurately communicate what Dio has meant to my life over the years. His music and lyrics do that better than I could. So it was with a heavy heart that I dedicated a 5-hour Black Night Meditations to Ronnie just 2 days after he died. But I had to do it. For me, the fans, and Ronnie.I programmed this tribute as a fan to honor a man (born here in Portsmouth) who always honored his fans. I spoke at length of my appreciation for Ronnie as a vocalist and a frontman. I also acknowledged his unparalleled affection for his fans. From Rainbow, to Sabbath, to Dio and Heaven & Hell, I offered my thoughts on Dio's amazing discography. I read on-air many comments emailed to BNM from Dio fans, which included members of Benedictum, Deceased, Faith Factor, and Heavy Artillery Records. 40 songs from Dio's career (Rainbow thru Heaven & Hell) were played including requests and many live bootlegs from tours throughout the years. I also spun a live Elf cover of 'War Pigs' and a Ronnie & The Prophets song.I hope that listening to this tribute to Ronnie will have you banging your head, with a smile on your face and your horns held high. \m/ Long live Rock and Roll, and long live Ronnie James Dio!Email/RequestsPlaylistsBlack, Death, Speed, Thrash, Doom, Folk, Shred, Power, Prog & Traditional MetalFriday Nights 9pm-1am e.s.t. - WSCA 106.1 FM - Portsmouth, NH USA
