Rookie Catcher Shatters Royals Records | Kansas City Royals News

Rookie catcher Carter Jensen shattered Royals records this week, launching his sixth leadoff homer and 20th of the season — then added a second blast against the Marlins. Stepping into Salvador Perez’s role with poise and power, Jensen is batting over .250 with extra-base hits in 83 starts. Manager Matt Quatraro praised his clutch performance, especially as he thrives in the leadoff spot since May. Despite Jensen’s historic night, the Royals fell 9-6 to Miami, who seized control in the sixth and held on for the series win. The Royals close out the series today with Michael Wacha facing off against Sandy Alcantara in a high-stakes pitching duel.
