Root & Cox Seal Series Win | Belfast News

England clinched a stunning 3-0 series sweep over Pakistan, with Joe Root leading the charge in a dramatic chase at Edgbaston. After a shaky start—Mohammad Abbas dismissing both openers in the first over—Root and debutant Jordan Cox forged an unbroken 128-run partnership to seal an eight-wicket win. Root smashed 62 not out, Cox added 59 not out, marking England’s best result since 2024. The victory comes as Root steadies the ship after Ben Stokes’ retirement, setting up tougher tests ahead against South Africa and Bangladesh. Despite close calls—including a no-ball escape and a dropped catch—England held firm, ending their home summer on a high note, even if some batting still needs polish.
