Rose & Richard Loya’s Christmas Special – Part Two

HARLINGEN, RGV – Rose and Richard Loya produced rock ’n’ roll shows for RGV Public Radio 88 FM for a number of years.When the Diocese of Brownsville sold the station earlier this year, their shows, along with other locally produced programming, was lost to the airwaves.As a treat for the holiday season, the Loyas have kindly allowed the Rio Grande Guardian to run a couple of their Christmas shows.The above podcast features the second of these shows. Rose Loya joined the team at KMBH a few years ago as a volunteer with JukeBox Memories, which featured rock ’n’ roll music from the 1950’s and 1960’s. It was a very popular program.Rose Loya was born in Corpus Christi but grew up in Harlingen, attending school in Harlingen also. She was recruited by Richard Loya to fill a void on 88FM with JukeBox Memories, and gained a strong following.Richard Loya had a short stint with KMBH in 2007 and produced several radio shows through the years on his own.
