Rosy Tawil: Computer & Communications Engineer
from Student Stories · host Real Industry
Rosy Tawil, a fourth year student at the University of St Joseph in Beirut, Lebanon, is studying Computer and Communications Engineering in the Telecommunications Program. She didn't always want to be an engineer. At first, she thought she wanted to be a nurse, and then a lawyer. Once she got to university, she took a physics class and learned that she liked coding, and transfered into the telecommunications program. Through testing and trying different things, she was able to find a field and career that she really enjoys. We talked about sexism in engineering, and ways to combat that. Her advice to students: don't be afraid to switch majors! Maybe school takes you a couple extra years because you switched or went back to school, but you'll be working for the next 50-60 years, so make sure it's something you enjoy! It's worth the switch. Try new things. You have plenty of time!
