The jury deliberated less than three hours before finding him guilty on all counts. He now faces life in prison, with sentencing scheduled for December 18. Courtroom Drama: Immediately after the guilty verdict, Routh attempted to stab himself in the neck with a pen but was quickly restrained by U.S. Marshals. His daughter, present in court, reacted emotionally, calling out in his defense. Secret Service Bust of a Massive “Swatting” Network Discovery: The Secret Service announced it had dismantled a sophisticated telecommunications network in the New York tri-state area linked to swatting attacks against conservative politicians and officials. Scale & Threat: Investigators uncovered over 100,000 SIM cards and 300 servers strategically placed within 35 miles of NYC. This network could have disrupted entire cell networks, including during the UN General Assembly. Swatting Targets: High-profile figures like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Sen. Rick Scott, and Nikki Haley were targeted. The network was reportedly run by foreign state actors and criminal organizations. Official Statement: Matt McCool, head of the Secret Service’s New York office, explained the network enabled anonymous, encrypted communication and posed an imminent threat to protective operations.
