Royal Road: Hermetic Overview
from Hermetic Tradition: Osiris to Franklin Hosted by Roger Weir
This presentation reframes the Hermetic tradition not as a fringe or occult curiosity, but as the central “royal road” of Western civilization—an unbroken spine of spiritual, intellectual, and cultural continuity stretching from ancient Egypt, through Greece and Alexandria, into Christianity and beyond. Tracing Hermes from Egyptian Thoth to Greek myth, the fusion of palace and library, and the seismic transformation of consciousness around 0 A.D., Roger shows how Hermetic wisdom moved from arcane funerary texts for elites to living spiritual experience available to all. It explores Alexandria as the crucible where Egyptian, Greek, Jewish, and Roman worlds collided, giving rise to Hermetic texts, the Gospel of John, Gnosticism, and ultimately shaping Christianity, the Renaissance, and the modern West—arguing that true civilization depends on the liberation of the human spirit and the courage to awaken to eternal truth within.
