Royals Add Veteran Lefty Bummer | Kansas City Royals News

The Royals are stacking their bullpen with veteran arms, and Aaron Bummer is the latest addition—heading to Triple-A Omaha on a minor league deal. A lefty with over 400 MLB games under his belt (mostly with the White Sox and Braves), Bummer once posted a stellar 2.13 ERA in 2019 and even pitched well for Atlanta after a big contract and trade. But his 2024 season tanked—he was released by Atlanta in May, briefly picked up by the Cubs, and now the Royals are hoping his sinker and breaking ball can spark a comeback. With injuries decimating their pitching staff, the Royals are signing experienced arms left and right to plug the gaps—Bummer’s time in Omaha could be the start of a new chapter.
