Royals Crushed 22-1 by White Sox

The Royals just got obliterated 22-1 by the White Sox, surrendering a franchise-record 22 runs and tying a 1994 mark — their last two games combined saw them outscored by 32 runs. After nearly being no-hit against Tampa Bay, Friday’s game was even worse: Steven Cruz pitched well early, but Mitch Spence took the brunt of a 10-run third inning. Miguel Vargas crushed a three-run homer and RBI double, while Tristan Peters launched a grand slam to make it 17-1. Chicago’s offense exploded with season highs, eight of nine starters getting hits and dominating with runners in scoring position. The Royals’ offense? Five hits in 18 innings. Even Bobby Witt Jr.’s return couldn’t spark anything. And it’s not just bad luck — David Sandlin, drafted by the Royals, tossed six strong innings against his former team.
