Royals Crushed by Rays' Power

The Royals took a brutal 13-2 beating in Tampa, as the Rays exploded offensively with four homers—including a franchise-record three from Junior Caminero. Starter Seth Lugo, celebrating 10 MLB seasons, struggled mightily, surrendering seven runs in just five innings. Kansas City’s offense went cold, nearly falling victim to a no-hitter until Carter Jensen broke it up with a ninth-inning homer. The Rays dominated, while the Royals’ bats went silent over their last 18 innings. Now, they head to Chicago facing the White Sox, with a pitching shuffle underway as a starter heads to paternity leave. First pitch: 6:40 PM CT.
