Royals Sweep Cardinals Without Witt

The Royals pulled off a gritty 6-5 win over the Cardinals, their third straight victory — and they did it without star Bobby Witt Jr. Tyler Tolbert stepped up in a big way, delivering a key sacrifice fly and helping turn a slick double play that sealed the game. Seth Lugo made a dramatic return after a scary injury, pitching through nerves to help the team’s offense explode for four runs in the fourth. Jac Caglianone kept his hot streak alive with another opposite-field homer, tying the team lead in homers. With a rare Saturday off due to a nearby World Cup game, the Royals aim to sweep the series on Sunday, with Stephen Kolek on the mound.
