RRR Gives You The Finger! (Not Really) 19 March 2023

from Rapidly Rotating Records · host Glenn Robison

Toad Stool Inn, Cincinnati, Ohio, Outdoor Dance Floor 1924 Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s. If the concrete stools in the photograph look like mushrooms, it’s no accident. This is the outdoor dance floor of the Toad Stool Inn in Avondale, near Cincinnati, Ohio in 1924. You’ll find out just why we’re sharing this picture in the third segment of this week’s show, a birthday salute to Bernie Cummins. Joe Moss also has a birthday segment to start off the show. Last week we heard songs performed by Paul Ash AHO, but this week we’ll hear tunes written by Paul Ash played by others. And we’ll visit the fortune teller and give you the finger!  Well, not really, but we will give you a couple of songs about fingers. You’ll find out why in the fourth segment of the show. There’s lots of great music and interesting information so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and be magically transported back to an earlier–and we think better–musical era. Just click the link above to instantly listen streaming online and/or download for listening at your convenience.           THANKS FOR LISTENING!ENJOY THE SHOW!
