RSR376 - Weston Wellman - Recording Heavy Rock and Modular Synths in Nashville

from Recording Studio Rockstars

Turn it up to eleven! Weston talked about recording rock guitars, playing movies and video games in the studio while recording, committing through an analog console eq on the way into Pro Tools, and dialing in the perfect kick drum sound with Peavey. My guest today is Weston Wellman an artist engineer and music producer in Nashville TN. "I like to record bands and play music. So if you want your band recorded or enjoy listening to music, consider me an option for one, or both of those things. The louder, the weirder, the crazier, the better." I actually met Weston through Instagram in 2021 when I got my Behringer Model D analog synth (modeled after Moog) and was so into it that I was posting and browsing IG videos of synths. Weston was also sharing some killer sounds with his synths, pedals, and cassette four-track, and making killer sounding heavy records with his band Noise Relay. It also turns out that we are connected both through Nashville and Mike Purcell over at County Q studio. Mike was actually the very first guest back on episode RSR001 so how cool is that? I'm psyched to talk to Weston today about making fantastic sounding heavy rock records with his bands Noise Relay and Sleepercab, creating wild and weird sound in the studio using guitar pedals, synths, and whatever else sounds cool.
