Now, that I believe is true. The history lessons I remember are all the stories, not the dates and the events. Stories stick with you — they’re how you remember life lessons, the heartbreaks, the victories, and, of course, the humiliating moments you swear your family will bring up forever. Kipling’s point is a simple but powerful reminder: facts and figures might fade, but a story — a real, emotional, messy, vivid story — will etch itself into your memory. Today, as you think about what tales you could tell, remember: you don’t have to be Shakespeare or J.K. Rowling. All you need is a moment worth sharing and the courage to tell it.
