5 Fact Friday for 9 October 2026. Average five-year fixes have hit 6% for the first time in three years, and sub-5% deals have all but vanished (1,494 at the start of September, 9 now). Plus Kemi Badenoch's pledge to scrap stamp duty on main homes, the Your First Home scheme and its sub-£3,600 deposits on new builds, the RICS survey showing fewer buyers and more sellers, and house prices stalling and falling faster than the averages suggest.
