Run

from Poetry by Tim Windisch · host Tim Windisch

Run I know in my mind, right from the start, she isn’t that kind, she’ll break my heart Starts with the tears, games that we play, my darkest fears, anything to make her stay Addicted to how it feels, fix a broken smile, yet mine conceals, my friends knew all the while She’s no good for me, I’m not making things better, anyone can see, taking my soul and I let her Don’t even think about walking boy, run! Just her wind up little talking toy, fun! Wake yourself from this stupefied slumber You got to lose hers, time to call a new number Run the race of your life and take the tape Can’t save ‘em all and you don’t wear a cape Run and stop when you’re free of the noise And be yourself, you’re not one of the toys Run Got thousands of excuses, like the money I’m owed, likely better uses, should head on down the road Say you can just be friends, not sure you even know, loyalty never ends, it doesn’t just come and go Part of being one you see, is knowing how they feel, love to share free, not just continue to steal Things for which you have no right, you grab anyway, a feeding hand you bite, yet like a fool he will stay Don’t even think about walking boy, run! Just her wind up little talking toy, fun! Wake yourself from this stupefied slumber You got to lose hers, time to call a new number Run the race of your life and take the tape Can’t save ‘em all and you don’t wear a cape Run and stop when you’re free of the noise And be yourself, you’re not one of the toys Run What else is left so say? Would it really matter? Long as you continue to play, like walking under a ladder One day it will go wrong, longer you tempt fate, know damn well you don’t belong, not your soul mate So what’s the point to fix, a situation she enjoys, leave her alone to her tricks, let her have the bad boys You’ve value to someone better, she’ll never understand, wants solitude let her, time for you to stand Don’t even think about walking boy, run! Just her wind up little talking toy, fun! Wake yourself from this stupefied slumber You got to lose hers, time to call a new number Run the race of your life and take the tape Can’t save ‘em all and you don’t wear a cape Run and stop when you’re free of the noise And be yourself, you’re not one of the toys Run Tim Windisch 9/22/2016
