from Running Book Reviews with Alan and Liz · host Alan and Liz, Matt Fitzgerald, Ben Rosario

Send us Fan MailRun Like Pro Even If You’re Slow attempts to break down key habits and traits of professional runners and make them available to the rest of us. We tend to think that professional runners are somehow fundamentally different from the rest of us, but a lot of those differences are due to better lifestyle habits and more emotional intelligence which are things we can all improve to become faster runners. Each chapter of the book focuses on one topic such as managing mileage, balancing intensities, recovery, and many more. The chapters at the end contain training plans for 5k, 10k, half-marathon, marathon and ultramarathon distances. Each chapter ends with professional tips from Coach Ben Rosario.Matt Fitzgerald is a lifelong runner and endurance athlete, and an acclaimed endurance sportswriter who has authored and co-authored more than 25 books (29 or 30 depending on how you count). He is also a running and triathlon coach, certified sports nutritionist, and journalist who has written for many sports journals (Men’s health, men’s fitness, Outside) and websites (active.com). He has a website called mattfitzgerald.org, and is cofounder of the 8020endurance.com training website. Coach Ben Rosario was a high level runner in his High School and College years. Currently he is the head coach of the Hoka Naz Elite professional distance running team in Flagstaff Arizona and his athletes have finished top 10 at major marathons including Boston, Chicago, New York and London, and won national titles (most well-known is Aliphine’s 2020 Olympic Trials Marathon win). In his past life, Ben co-owned a specialty running shop in Saint Louis Missouri called Big River Run Company. He has co-authored two previous books called Inside a marathon (2020), and  Tradition, Class, Pride (2015) which are both about running.
