"Run with Endurance"

from "Prayer Changes Everything" Devotion for Today · host Y.E.S. Jesus Youth Encountering Savior Jesus

March 15, 2024 Daily Devotion: "Run with Endurance" Hebrews 12:1-3 New International Version Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. As we continue in our race of faith, we too must endure. But we will not be asked to endure anything that our Savior has not already endured. He endured suffering, rejection, and shame so that we could be reconciled to God. Because of His endurance, we now have an advocate seated at the right hand of God. When we remember what He has done for us, it gives us endurance and strength to continue in hope. To live in hope and continue in our faith, we need to rid ourselves of what hinders us, run with endurance, and keep our eyes on Jesus. We leave sin behind, evaluate our choices based on Scripture, and get rid of anything that pulls us away from God. Whatever is hindering your faith, throw it off. We run with endurance by not giving up. No matter what we’re facing, we cling to God’s promises as we suffer so that we build endurance in our faith. And we keep our eyes on Jesus. By focusing our lives on Him we remember all He has done for us. Keeping our eyes on Jesus helps us when we grow weary and want to give up. We do this by reading Scripture, remaining constant in prayer, and living in community. Jesus endured suffering for our sake. We are only able to endure suffering because of what He has done for us. Without His sacrifice, we would have no reason to hope. As we endure, we display our hope in God’s character and His promises. We are witnesses to the world of faith and hope. May we faithfully endure and show the world the reason for the hope that we have.
