He was raised in a nurturing household with both parents excelling in their respective fields as a lawyer and nursing director. His grandfather was a basketball player at KSU and his father a standout athlete who played football and baseball at Dartmouth College and was a wide receiver for the San Diego Chargers–Russell's path to stardom as an athlete was seemingly predestined through his lineage. In '08, he began his college football journey at NC State. Russell's athletic endeavors soon drew attention from the Colorado Rockies baseball team before ultimately committing to the Wisconsin Badgers football program in 2011. This pivotal decision led to his selection by the Seattle Seahawks in the 2012 NFL Draft, marking the start of an illustrious professional career. In a historic moment in February of 2014, Russell's leadership propelled the Seahawks to victory in Super Bowl 48 against the Denver Broncos, garnering the franchise's first-ever Super Bowl title. Throughout his career, Russell's achievements have been nothing short of remarkable. From earning nine Pro Bowl selections to being named NFL Offensive Player of the Year, he has shattered records and set new standards for excellence, even in his rookie year. Beyond the field, Russell is revered as a man of unwavering and great faith, a devoted father, a loving husband, and an epitome of resilience.
