Russia Changes Weapons—Ukraine Keeps Ruining the Plan
from Daily Updates on Russian Invasion of Ukraine Hosted by Professor Gerdes
I examine Ukraine’s war as a relentless measure-countermeasure cycle rather than a contest with one permanent “winning” weapon. FPV drones helped equalize Russia’s tank advantage; electronic warfare then drove the adoption of fiber-optic FPVs, while cope cages, anti-drone nets, interceptor drones, and unmanned ground vehicles illustrate how quickly battlefield answers can be challenged. I also look at Russia’s evolving Shahed threat, including faster jet-powered variants, Ukraine’s need to mass-produce interceptor drones, and a reported Mirage 2000-5F interception of a Banderol cruise missile using its 30 mm cannon. Russia is adapting too, from remote-controlled Sturm assault vehicles to mass drone production. My central lesson is that defense companies need personnel in Ukraine to carry frontline feedback into maintenance, training, production, and R&D. The strategic advantage goes to the side that can test, learn, and field the next workable countermeasure fastest. 00:00 Why every battlefield answer is temporary 01:14 Ukraine’s adaptation cycle and frontline feedback 03:24 FPV drones, electronic warfare, and fiber optics 04:41 Why defense companies need a presence in Ukraine 06:20 Shaheds, interceptor drones, and air defense 07:29 Banderol missiles and remote-controlled tanks 08:33 Anti-drone nets and strikes on launch sites 10:01 Russian casualties and changing battlefield conditions 11:05 Evidence standards and the need for air defense expertise #UkraineWar #FPVDrones #DroneWarfare #AirDefense #DefenseInnovation Facts over noise.
