Rutgers Defense Overhaul Tested | Rutgers Scarlet News

Rutgers’ defense was a disaster last season, dragging down an otherwise solid offense — but Coach Schiano’s bold moves might just fix it. He brought in new defensive coordinator Travis Johansen and aggressively targeted the transfer portal, bringing in over a dozen players with proven stats to revamp the unit. Key additions include pass-rushing ends Malachi Davis and JDan Burnett, standout linebackers Ty Morris and Sean Allison, and speedster corner Bradlee Jones alongside pass-breaker Zahmir Dawud. The real test? Can these transfers adapt quickly and stay healthy in the brutal Big Ten? Schiano’s confident, but this is a high-stakes gamble — and fans are watching closely to see if Rutgers can turn things around on the field.
