On April 6th, Bryce Dorch, the Rutgers forward, is set to hit the transfer portal tonight at midnight. He's the first big name expected to bounce from the Starland Knights, with more departures likely coming soon. Over two seasons, the 6'9 sophomore averaged just 1.8 points and 2.6 rebounds across 43 games. Dorch came in as a top 200 recruit from Somerville, Massachusetts, part of Rutgers' 6th ranked class in 2024.
That group included stars like Ace Bailey and Dylan Harper, making it one of the nation's best hauls. The team needed him early when center Emmanuel Ogbole went down with a season-ending injury freshman year. Dorch burned his red shirt with 12 games left, jumping into help with death issues despite plans to bulk up first. His sophomore numbers ticked up a bit as Ogbole's backup, 2.1 points, 3.2 rebounds in 31 games, 3 starts and about 13 minutes a night.
Now he's off to chase more minutes elsewhere, signaling the start of a roster shakeup for Rutgers as they gear up for what's next.
