Rutgers Lands Game-Changing Freshman | Rutgers Basketball News

Rutgers just snagged a major recruiting win with Imahri Wooten, a 6-foot-5, 180-pound guard who brings elite shooting, toughness, and a veteran mindset to the Scarlet Knights. After turning down offers from Miami, Syracuse, and Auburn, Wooten chose Rutgers for its direction and potential — and he’s already poised to be a game-changer. With his perimeter scoring and paint presence, he fills a critical need. Coach Pikiell now faces the challenge of integrating him seamlessly. Rutgers also needs to fix its second-half struggles — Wooten’s defensive grit and team-first attitude could be the key. Plus, the 2026-27 roster looks strong with returning stars like Tariq Francis, Lino Mark, and Darren Buchanan Jr., plus freshman standout Kaden Powers — setting the stage for a breakout season.
