Rutgers Lands Top 50 Guard Chikae Desdunes | Rutgers Basketball News

Rutgers just made a huge splash in women’s basketball, landing top-50 recruit Chikae Desdunes — the first freshman signed by new coach Gary Redus — as they gear up for his debut season. Desdunes, a four-star combo guard, averaged over 11 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists in her senior year, eclipsed 2,000 career points, and led teams to multiple state and national titles. Her elite versatility and mature mindset — choosing Rutgers for elite competition and academic growth — make her a perfect fit. Redus also brought in seven experienced transfers, including former conference players of the year, to build a deep, battle-tested roster. With strong New Jersey ties and a mix of elite talent and veteran leadership, Rutgers is poised to make waves in the Big Ten under new leadership.
