In Ruth 4, Boaz goes to meet with the nameless potential family redeemer who has a right to redeem Ruth before Boaz. He risks the girl to follow God's ways. He's not willing to budge when it comes to his character with God - not even for a girl he's swooning over. He meets with this nameless man and the man says - no thanks - and passes on the offer. Boaz gets the girl! God's will is coming forth and this family is being redeemed wholly. They are married and given a huge blessing over their lives. They have a son named Obed. Obed had Jesse and Jesse had David. There were 10 generations from Perez to David and God moved mightily through them as He brought forth His plan to save us eternally. His plan leads us to Jesus. Jesus is our Boaz, our Redeemer - and our Redeemer lives. God provided for both food and family for Ruth and Naomi and He's the only One who can. He sees our deepest needs. He sees us. He will provide. Who we are and how we live affects those around us. We can choose to live in a way that redeems others around us like Boaz - like Jesus. We can also choose to walk away like the nameless guy and ignore the people's needs around us. We are called to spread the Gospel of Jesus and love like He does. I dare say if more people would choose to live their lives as a reflection of Jesus and in obedience to His command to love God and love people above all else, it might just change humanity.
