What do you do when you don’t know how things are going to work out? Ruth enters a field trying to find enough food to survive. She has no idea that the field belongs to Boaz or that what looks like an ordinary day is part of God’s extraordinary plan of redemption. Ruth 2 reminds us that God is often at work long before we can see it, faithfully pursuing, protecting, and providing for His people through ordinary circumstances and ordinary acts of faithfulness.The clearest proof of God’s care isn’t ultimately found in a barley field in Bethlehem, but in Jesus, the Redeemer born in Bethlehem who gave Himself for us. Because God has pursued us in Christ, we can do the next faithful thing, use what He has given us for the good of others, and trust Him with the outcomes we can't control.
