from Making Room by Gather · host Ruthie Ridley, Phina Ellerman

Friendship is equally one of the sweetest and most complex areas of our lives. In my conversation today with Phina & Ruthie we discuss not only why friendships are so critical but how we navigate them in our own lives. Its easy to let friendships take the back seat, but what would it look like for us to re-prioritize and give more space to this need we all have! Through todays conversation you will laugh, maybe cry, but ultimately hopefully feel compelled to go out to Be the Party & Make The Party! Get to know our guests! Phina - Hey y’all! The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
