from African Dialogue · host Channel Africa
Rwanda has made a remarkable economic and social recovery from the devastating 1994 genocide. The country is now politically stable with well-functioning institutions, rule of law and zero tolerance for corruption. It has an 8% average year-on-year GDP growth, stable inflation and exchange rate. Rwanda is now the most competitive place to do business in East Africa and 3rd in Africa. The country’s development board continues to collaborate with various institutions in Rwanda to improve its economic competitiveness as well as create a favourable environment for businesses. To unpack this miraculous economic recovery, we are joined on the line by: • Victor Kgomo-eshwana: An African business expert • Jeggan Grey Johnson: The Advocacy officer with the Africa Governance, Monitoring and Advocacy Project, which is supported by the Africa Foundations of the Open Society • Steven Gruzd, Head of the successor programme on Governance and the APRM at the South African Institute of International Affairs.
