Rwandan Elections

from African Dialogue · host Channel Africa

Paul Kagame has won a third term as president of Rwanda with an overwhelming 98 percent of votes from Friday’s election. Kagame received 6.6 million votes while the two opposition candidates received only 80, 000. The exceedingly impressive win of a fresh seven-year term has been seen as symbolising the transforming Rwanda from its history of a genocide to a society with a transforming economy.
