That gives the episode a fresh dynamic, because Brandon is walking into Continental cold while Gene is watching the wrestling of his childhood, and Robb is there to explain why this isn’t just “Diet Memphis,” no matter how much he likes saying it.The best thing about this episode is the contrast between Gene’s nostalgia, Robb’s analysis, and Brandon’s fresh eyes. Gene knows this world. This is his childhood wrestling. Robb has become the guide who can explain why the footage matters, while still calling out the weird stuff. Brandon comes in without all that baggage, so when he sees the Nightmares, Adrian Street, Gordon Solie, The Bullet, and all the Fuller/Armstrong chaos, he’s reacting like somebody getting dropped into Southern territory wrestling for the first time. That works great for this type of podcast.By the end, Brandon gets it. Continental may not have the national mythology of Memphis, World Class, or ECW, but the TV has real matches, real heat, Gordon Solie, believable violence, bizarre promos, and enough Southern wrestling weirdness to keep everyone entertained.Episode #13 is incomplete footage, but it’s a completely good time. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
