This one closes out the April 3rd taping cycle, and it ends up being a sneaky important episode: the Suicide Blondes manage to win the ECW Tag Team Titles, Paul E. Dangerously keeps pushing Don Muraco toward Sandman’s ECW Heavyweight Title, and the road to the Super Summer Sizzler Spectacular keeps getting hotter.Gene and Brandon also spend a good bit of time talking about how much better the show is starting to feel. Jay “Six Pack” Sulli and Stevie Wonderful seem more comfortable on commentary, the pacing is improving, and ECW is slowly starting to feel less like a local TV experiment and more like a promotion finding its personality.Episode #8 is one of those early ECW episodes where the promotion feels like it’s inching closer to becoming something. It’s still rough. It’s still weird. Some of it makes no sense.
