S01 E95 - Pick My Most Beautiful Side (Hellraiser)

This week the lads learn some new dutch words, and talk about Hellraiser. NB: The mics weren't turned on for the first 10 mins. Ooops, sorry. "Hellraiser" is a horror film released in 1987, written and directed by Clive Barker, based on his own novella "The Hellbound Heart." The movie introduces audiences to the iconic character of Pinhead, the leader of the Cenobites, otherworldly beings who offer both pleasure and pain to those who seek them out. "Hellraiser" explores themes of desire, obsession, and the thin line between pleasure and suffering. The film centers around a puzzle box called the Lament Configuration, which opens a gateway to a realm of unimaginable horrors. When the box is opened by a man named Frank Cotton, he is taken to this dimension, leaving behind a bloody trail. However, Frank's brother, Larry, and his wife, Julia, unwittingly resurrect him through a series of gruesome events. As the plot unfolds, the audience is taken on a nightmarish journey into a world of sadomasochistic demons and twisted desires. "Hellraiser" is renowned for its dark and visceral imagery, unsettling atmosphere, and memorable characters. It has become a cult classic in the horror genre, gaining a dedicated following and spawning multiple sequels. The film's success can be attributed to Clive Barker's unique vision and his ability to create a chilling and fantastical mythology surrounding the Cenobites. "Hellraiser" remains a significant entry in the horror canon, known for its unflinching exploration of the depths of human desire and the consequences that come with it.
