s01e01: What is Play?

from Cadre · host Bloomington Center for Connection

Amy and Kevin introduce the theme for the 2024 Relational Cadre and Summit hosted by the Bloomington Center For Connection. Playful Connections is an examination of play as a creative process of transformative connection. Play includes engaging in activities out of curiosity, and helps us develop clarity about ourselves and others and build stronger, more authentic relationships. It's a key component of growth, resiliency, and joy. This episode reflects on some of the ideas that came from the first Cadre session in January 2024. RCT is built on the premise that, throughout our lifespans, human beings grow through and toward connection, and that those relationships shape and are shaped by the cultures we co-create. Each year, the Bloomington Center for Connection selects a guiding theme for monthly small-group discussions of RCT concepts.  Amy Makice is the founder of Bloomington Center for Connection and a licensed psychotherapist based in Bloomington, Indiana. Amy offers individual therapy and parent support for people in the Bloomington area, workshops for parents and caregivers, and training on Relational Cultural theory. Kevin Makice is a user experience designer and enthusiastic gamer who has been steeping in RCT for three decades. Here, there are no pastors, no pretense, and no pandering. Just interesting conversation, realistic expectations, and practical advice for the regular man.Steve Cruz is the host of The Regular Man Podcast, created specifically for the regular, hard-working, blue-collar man. He’s a husband and father who believes men should embrace God’s gift of masculinity and live a life of Christian virtue.Steve learned the value of hard work, integrity, and respect through an upbringing of cars, construction, and a cadre of strong hardened men. As a military veteran and law enforcement officer, Steve understands the value of speaking directly and plainly on subject matters that are, far too often, nuanced to death by the modern-day Christian Church. As the host of The Regular Man Podcast, Steve has down-to-earth "Join The Conversation" with George Christopher Thomas George Christopher Thomas In this era of fake news and neo-yellow journalism, this podcast focuses on using academic insight and peer-reviewed understandings to get the real story out there. By basing the conservation in a college atmosphere, the focus is a combination of learning and accuracy that lays down the foundation for comprehending complex issues and concepts. Our host invites you to "Join The Conversation" by listening as we bring in a cadre of guests from all over America and the world.
