She also details her path into the T Project and the Alicia community centre, and what she learned along the way. There were many challenges for a "sex worker of 20 years with only 'O'-levels" to set up a shelter for homeless trans sex workers without savings, but June also understood what her strengths were, especially as a speaker, which she used to great effect to get the space furnished and stocked with food.
