S1 E11 - Sport Coverage

from Generations (Talking 'bout My Sports...) · host Jonathan Tan

Can you imagine a time, if you lived on the East Coast, that if your favorite team played on the West Coast, you would have to wait for two days to see the box score of the game!?! Newspapers had deadlines so they could go to print. If games ran late or were on different time zones, many times the information would be kicked to the following day. The Los Angeles Times announced in July they will no longer print box scores. What the what!?! CNN Headline Sports was a boon for sports fans. Then ESPN became widely available on cable and Sportscenter became a staple for sports fans. How games are covered and how we get our information has changed drastically during Steve's and my lifetime. We talk about the what seems like extreme behaviors we had to engage just to get sports information.
