S1 E3 Humble Understandings: How far we need to go

We acknowledge mental illness and autism. As a human species, we have made progress! I suppose we don’t have things called “insane asylums” anymore, or do we? When a mother, wife, woman expresses her grief and/or opinions and thoughts in a manner that freaks everyone out around her, we don’t call her delusional or hysterical anymore, right? When you’re at the grocery store with your 28-year-old, mostly non-verbal son, and he begins screaming obscenities in the middle of the chip aisle, and not only flailing his arms wildly but is now just trashing the entire row of nicely organized food items on the shelves all while insulting every lucky person to cross his path in that moment. When a concerned citizen calls the police to intervene and they show up only to be confronted violently by this man, him spitting in their face and telling them he’s going to kill them. Nowadays, the police have training to be able to recognize the signs and are much more capable of handling such a situation. Right?
