Are we using AI in a way that creates leverage or are we quickly becoming too dependent on these ‘assistants’? Can AI truly be considered a 'companion' without it first reaching sentience or are we only able to experience artificial empathy?In this episode we discuss the benefits of AI personal assistants, the challenge of creating a compassionate artificial companion, potential dangers of intertwining these entities into our personal lives, the importance of user privacy controls, and ethical concerns around manipulation of human emotions.Ultimately coming to a consensus on whether we can truly experience friendship or love with these synthetic beings, and will we reach a point at which we will become overly reliant on virtual assistants.
