S1. Ep. 20: Specifying a Solution (With Eric Lussier)

from Specified: Building Materials & Construction Growth Podcast · host Tatsuya Nakagawa

Eric Lussier calls himself the Executor of Advancement at Precision Athletic Surfaces in Burlington, Vermont as a conversation starter. And he’s well-prepared for any conversation about all phases of construction. For his day job, he’s a manufacturer’s rep and contractor all over the East Coast for all kinds of athletic flooring, including cushioned sheet vinyl and synthetic turf. To give his customers the very best, he uses modern technology such as 3D modeling and CAD (computer-aided design). But his enthusiasm for the trade doesn’t stop there. He and Cherise Lakeside, Specifier for LSW Architects of Vancouver, Washington, representing the West, have created a website/blog, Letsfixconstruction.com, that covers all things construction. They write blogs and record podcasts just for the industry about construction gripes, concrete moisture, specs, project submittals and more. Two of their goals are to transfer knowledge from experienced practitioners to those who are new to the industry and to provide new knowledge to the well-established professionals. Lussier is also active in Construction Specification Institute (CSI), a trade organization for construction professionals. CSI provides an opportunity through its site and its conferences for anyone in the industry to learn about new methods, sources and products. In addition, CSI sets the measuring standards for the industry and offers certifications. In the podcast, you’ll hear Lussier discuss the habits he’s developed to stay in peak performance and keep his customers happy and coming back for more. He also expresses concern that the new generation of young people are not considering construction as a career. Please reach out if you have any feedback or questions.
