S1 Ep 3 Yes Anding the Absurdity that is Healthcare

from Comedicine · host Dr Sarah Boston

In this episode, Sarah has a spontaneous, totally improvised, not at all planned conversation with pharmacist and improv comedian, Cory Jenks. Dr Jenks earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of South Carolina in 2011. He is an ambulatory care clinical pharmacy specialist, where he tries to talk people into healthy lifestyle choices instead of taking medications, which seems antithetical, but it all makes sense. Cory just celebrated his tenth improvaversary! YES, he coaches, teaches and performs improv, AND he also uses the principles of improv to teach healthcare professionals how to apply the valuable skills of improv to create a more adaptable, empathetic and humanizing healthcare experience. YES, AND also, he wrote a book about this very subject called Permission to Care. He is also a husband and dad of three kids under five and ten chickens. This episode was so much fun and Sarah’s only regret is that we didn’t talk about the chickens.
