The Hollins family has been growing rice since 1942. Their farm sits in picturesque Burraboi in southern NSW. Neville and Brooke are experts in the field but in all that time, they've never had a crop quite like that of 2022. Their efforts have lead them to take out the coveted SunRice Grower of the Year award. To learn more, Brooke joins us to discuss:   Brooke's favourite place on the long-standing family farm. The Hollins family has been growing rice for 80 years. Some of the changes in rice farming in the recent past with the use of technology. We learn what rice requires to adequately grow in our climate. Winning the SunRice Grower of the Year Award 2022, after being nominated by their agronomist who specialises in best practice. Brooke explains the differences between Australian rice growing and other areas of the world. The constant water challenges in Australia and managing water allocations. Using the land correctly and how they pivot season by season, to adjust to weather conditions. Brooke's favourite thing about life on the land. The most unexpected event whilst in the rice business.
