S1 Ep5 Peruvian Doctors in COVID Wards Getting Coffee

from Comedicine · host Dr Sarah Boston

Our guest on this episode has packed a lot of living into life so far and she is just getting started! Dr Natalie Tinney is a Peruvian Canadian/Canadian Peruvian who was born in the USA, but grew up in Canada and Peru and then went to medical school in Peru. After graduation, all hell broke loose (aka COVID) and she found herself working in a COVID ward in a remote Peruvian city in the Amazon during peak COVID. She is now a third-year internal medicine resident in Lima, Peru, but she is doing rotations in Canada and she may end up practicing internal medicine up here. Time will tell. Natalie started doing open mics at 16, which is around the same time she decided to be a doctor. She loves stand up comedy, spoken word and writing. Medicine is her first love, but comedy is a great outlet for all of the crazy sh*t that happens to her. I hope you enjoy meeting Natalie as much as I did! Instagram: @natalietincarhttps://www.instagram.com/natalietincar/[00:02:40] During COVID some shopped on Amazon, Natalie went to the Amazon[00:04:06] Lose a daughter, gain a house![00:08:52] COVID wards in the middle of Amazon[00:10:21] Do not fasten your seatbelts.[00:14:03] Medical FOMO[00:19:23] Finding the funny at the doctor.[00:22:43] Lame (but hilarious) jokes patients make[00:24:01] Sarah draws the line at rectal exam jokes[00:27:45] My writing process is waiting for hilarious things to happen [00:32:40] #FaceThong2020[00:36:26] General genital knowledge[00:38:41] Winning at comedy by not trying to win[00:41:22] The Comedy-Medicine Venn DiagramThanks for listening to Comedicine!
