S1: Episode 37: The Blair Witch Project (1999)

from The Horrorble People's Podcast · host Horrorble People's Network

Alix's birthday month continues with one of the most fundamental entries in her favorite genre, and one of the earliest examples of viral marketing. Was it real? Obviously not, but people in the 90's were confused and we're going to talk all about it in this week's episode on THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT.The team takes you on a journey from the early days of two ambitious directors with an obsession for paranormal 70s documentaries to their ascent through the madness of the Hollywood system (and right back out). Anthony and Alix also look at how the success of the film affected the lives of its cast, as well as the creative filming process behind the whole thing. There's also an extended look at other Blair Witch media that would made up the second half of the film, if that woods footage wasn't so great! Get ready for some nostalgic tales of childhood screenings, and a plea to Kevin Smith (it'll make sense, we swear). This IS the Super Mario 64 of found footage films (again, it'll make sense). As always, like, subscribe, and please don't bother with The Blair Witch 2: Book of Shadows.
