Hi there listener, it's your game master Sean O'Hara here joined by Abdul Aziz. Hey listener, great to see you. And we are here to tell you about Spelllores Summer of YouTube. Did you know that the episode that you're listening to right now has a video episode as well?
Yeah, that's right. That video episode is live right now on YouTube. And if you go and watch that episode over on YouTube instead of over here, then it actually helps us con YouTube. Yeah, we're trying to trick the algorithm into showing Spelllores to as many people as possible, just like we tricked Apple Podcasts when we launched mallbrats and you helped us get to number one in comedy podcasts in Canada.
I guess in a lot of ways it's not really a trick. It's just our amazing community coming together to support us, which we so appreciate. So if you go to our YouTube page right now and subscribe, like, comment, share, and do the surveys at the end of the videos, that will help Spelllores grow. Yeah, and if you're going to listen to the episode anyway, might as well just click the link, go to this exact same episode over on YouTube, take a gander at her faces every once in a while while you're listening to it and help us find new audiences, new cool people like you who like TTRPGs who like comedy.
And if we get 1500 YouTube subscribers, we're going to release four free the video episodes of our first up all night playtest in which we play kids on bikes and a special Christmas adventure. Do you want to hear a fictionalized version of us murder Santa Claus? Don't spoil it. And if we get to 3000 new subscribers, we're going to release episode two of our up all night playtest in which we play bump in the dark by last pine press, but set in the 1970s.
Yeah, do you want to hear fictionalized versions of us? Kill the Easter Bunny. Don't spoil it. So that sounds like something you want.
Head over to our YouTube page and enjoy. Five whole bonus episodes of us murdering beloved holiday mascots. So that sounds like the kind of thing that interests you. Check out the link in the show notes.

We're all fucking shoot you in the brand. Bang, bang, bang. Hello everybody and welcome to Spout Lore. I'm your Game Master Shanoher.
Joining me is always playing Tacoma, dumb the barbarian of dual disease. Hello everybody. Playing Vang the Half-Elle Drew at Paul Opera's. Hi.
Playing Vang the Half-Elle Dafling Thief, Jessica Ty. Hello. When last we left our heroes, battle was joined. Colm Blackhammer, one half of the Blackhammer twins, possessor of the icon of slaughter, had arrived.
Sword in hand, armor shattered, and Tuck got in the mix immediately. And almost instantly was mortally wounded. I immediately took 11 points of damage, which was one point more than I had to take. And one more point than Colm was capable of dealing to you.
Yeah, I self-owned. You did kind of self-own. Trying to overcome the armor bypassing super demonic sharpness of the blade. Billy, meanwhile, inside transplanted the mechanical heart of M4 into Project Enbow, the towering war machine.
While Vang joined the battle, defending Tuck as best he can. Some failures caused the demon of servitude contained within the coins and tucks chest to take full control of Tuck's body. Pretty scary. I ain't even fucked up.
Yeah. Wielding Colm's own sword against his best friend and lover. You got it. Colm parent.
Yeah. Lover. I love that. Osmoosh.
Billy attacked Colm using Larry Terri and Chad after leaving the heart to do its thing. Yeah. Did way more damage than tuck. Oh, yeah.
So bad, you're bad. Clearly immediately dead. Yeah. Kick the shit out of Colm.
Yeah. Oh, sorry. I mean, I became dead. And then after that was left with literally one hip point.
Yeah, it was very close. It was a close fight. Yeah. I mean, I'm fine.
Vang very smartly used his combat prowess to draw the rampaging Tuck demon away. Staying out of the fight and keeping Billy out of harm's way. Well, out of harm from being killed by Tuck but still deeply in harm's way. You can tell by how much he was harmed.
It was. What did we learn from the fight? Because the fight happened. The listeners you've heard the fight.
We don't have to go blow by blow. Tuck pushed out of his own body into the void in his mind. By like, I guess, like the influence of the sword. Yeah.
And the demon in the coins in his chest. Yeah. Billy just transplanted him into this void in his mind. Yeah.
And heard the voices of the children of McCall singing the tolling. The old dirge for those lost on the streets. Yeah. Immediately freaked about because he was just like, Oh, no, I'm dying.
I'm going to die though. Uh, saw seeing these children on the periphery of his vision. But then seeing a door, the door that he had seen once long ago. Uh, the door to the iconographers lab.
Yeah. Remembering in this void that that doorway and that iconographer are his first known memories. Yeah. He has known memories before that point.
Mm hmm. And I gave up also that all of the Bruce Bruce stuff was a lie. Yeah. Yeah.
Everything that came before that doorway. And those were straps. Yeah. Oof.
He's a lie. Tuck. Returned to his full adult countenance in his mind. Took the axe in his mind from the icon of servitude in its true form.
And found himself momentarily, well and truly in the outer dark. Yeah. Cool. Yeah.
Sea of stars. Yeah. Smashing through that door, Tuck returns to his body and slowly gained re-control over his form, saving himself from taking the head right off of him. Well, maybe not.
Probably not. Probably not. Probably not. Nah.
I was about to do something for sure. I was going to get my finger in there. Look at the side. Yeah.
Uh, just as the party reconvened and was just again getting the shit kicked out of them by Colm Blackhammer. Yeah. Billy was really like fighting a little monster basically. Yeah.
Yeah. M4. Now, A4 finally woke, slamming a giant mechanical hand down on Colm and receiving a benediction. A very Eucharist like offering from Ving.
With Saffron. Saffron freeing him from his iconic influence. He received images and visions of the life of Colm and Calum Blackhammer as young men. And they're the twisting of them through manipulation by the Gibbissman into taking the icons of slaughter and for Calum, the icon of tyranny.
Mm. And as a last wish, he begged you to save his brother Calum and died. And that is where we find our heroes now. Or we find them a bit past this, I think we discussed.
Yeah. Yeah. I think that this situation was well and truly under control. Yeah.
That's anyone going to do against the gigantic 120 foot A4. So where do we find our heroes? Immediately after Colm died, we heard a bunch of doors slamming. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Weapon scattering. Yeah. Yeah. Ignition starting card drive away.
Go, go, go, go, go. Go, go, go. Fuck it. Run, run.
Do I get the doors out over? New resumes being printed off somewhere else. Yeah. What happened to mirrors?
I don't know. That's. All these people who were working in here. Yeah.
And ran back to the room where that closet was. Yeah. So what do you tell A4 before you leave? Wait.
OK. I will wait. And it's so. So fuck.
Yeah. Yeah. The beginning of that is quieter than the beginning as he realizes how loud he is now. And yeah, you run back to the office of Colm Black Hammer and his war council room.
As there's people scattering all over the place. Yeah. They don't care about us anymore. Yeah.
They're looting. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Nice.
Showing a bunch of pencils and staners. There's a lot of people who are forced to work here. Yeah. Oh man.
The lunchroom is empty now. Yeah. It's all right. Guys running with a giant bucket of coleslaw.
I got the coleslaw. Yeah. You guys are running down the hallway. And the guy's kids in front of you holding a giant bucket of coleslaw.
And he just stares at you. You can have it. And he keeps running. He keeps running.
He's like, don't forget that we spared you today. There's a trail of coleslaw leading away from him. And there's that vibe where there's papers and shit scattered all over the ground and just like a whoa, whoa. That's like the alarms are going on.
Yeah. I like that. And every once in a while, you see someone run down a hallway. Yeah.
Effies. Effies following you. Yeah. That's kind of a big deal.
Oh, she gives a thumbs up. Great. I'm going to go back to that hotel that you all live in. OK.
Yeah. Do you should come with us. OK. You did a great job.
Thanks. You're a vacation. And you get back to the door and it's kind of like hanging off of. Oh, shit.
Oh, he like ripped it out of the wall. He like knocked it. Like one of the hinges is busted. And it's just kind of hanging there.
Me, right? The door is open. You don't see anybody. And you walk in.
It's quiet. There's like shit kind of messed around. And then a figure dives at you from behind like the alcove. Like around the wall where the sitting room is.
I kick it in the chest. Oh my god. You don't have to roll for this year. Ah!
Fool, it slammed into a bookshelf. Meers. And it's Meers. Oh my god.
I thought he died. Oh, no. I just. He went what happened to Colm?
Where's the guy? Where's that guy? He gets up. He's got his sword.
It's OK. Flash forward. He's pouring some soup. Wow.
I can't believe you defeated Colm Blackhammer in that fashion. We shouldn't stay here though. His brother's still alive. And he's going to hear about this.
Yeah. How did you get away from him? I gave him the sword. What?
He asked for it. And I felt myself give it to him. Well, like you were compelled to? I didn't want to.
I knew I wasn't supposed to. But he just walked in. And he knocked the door off its hinges. He couldn't come in.
And he like, passed the bar. Either in your eye knows how to protect. People from those with ill-intense. But he just looked at me.
And he said, that doesn't belong to you. And then I just went and I got it. And I gave it back to him. Whoa.
Sort of so powerful. Yeah. What did we do? We could get the camera cuts to it.
Under a pile of papers on the catwalk. Where it skidded out of Colm's hand. Oh, fuck. Why do we always forget to take some with us?
I want to commune with A4 and tell him to pick up that sword. He's good. Like picks up a limb. He's trying to pick up a toothpick.
His fingers are so big. He's honestly like, yeah, like, okay, can do. He's doing this. He licks his giant finger.
No, he's like, he can't seem to pick it up. He's just like, oh shit. He's trying to get a finger to underneath this. Fuck.
It's so small. The blade is flat against the ground. I can't get purchased. I just cut my nails.
And then we hear him get frustrated and hear a giant honking. Oh, no. I'm so big now. I'm too big.
So if you guys want the sword, it is something that you could secure if you want that around. But Mears is like, I don't want that thing in here. No, I don't think it doesn't feel good to just leave it lying around for somebody else to pick it up. But we should destroy it.
But I think Billy's right. We got to get out of here fast. Well, someone's going to have to put like here. And Mears like walks over to the door.
And he's just going to like slap it back on, basically. And that should be hopefully enough to get the place moving. Yeah. Should we tell A4 to meet us somewhere?
Yeah. That's a good idea. Yeah. I mean, if you guys wanted something, because I mean A4 is not going to be able to hide.
But he's definitely not going to be able to hide. And he is a sentient thing. So he might have his own goals. But I mean, if you just wanted him to go to high spear.
Yeah, I think that's a good idea. It's kind of like an Iron Giant scenario, where if you're like, go end the war, he might be like, I don't want to do that. Like, I don't want to just go crush a bunch of people. Yeah.
I think we might just be like, A4, can you please go and find Parel and Morris and explain to them what you are? Okay. That's something to talk about. That's good.
It feels like I will go to this giant city and walk inside of it and explain myself to the people. Try and look friendly. Paint a happy face on your giant helm. Remember inside voice around people very well.
When you show up, keep doing two thumbs up. And to indicate that you're good. Great. I understand diplomacy now.
Two thumbs up, smiley face. Two thumbs up, smiley face. Nice as fuck. Yeah.
I am nice as fuck. Yeah. That took us, if you find a thing to paint on yourself with, try and paint the words gift from tuck, thing and bill. It's not a bad idea.
Should we just put that on the right now? Gift for high spear from Big Head Billy. We see he starts to climb out of the silo and we see you guys moving away with a bucket of barbecue sauce and we see gift from tuck, thing and Billy painted on his chest. Hip barbecue sauce.
And a smiley face on his giant metal head. All right. And this enormous machine like smashes through a silo cover, basically. I paint flames on his back because I think it looks cool.
Yeah, totally. The angel wings that are made out of fire. Wow. Yeah, that's super cool.
Yeah. You can tell that you see that you go. People are going to all think that's cool forever. Not just for 1998.
2004. That's always going to be sick. And he leaves. He is on his way to high spear.
What do we do with the sword? We went back in there. We painted him with barbecue sauce. I think we grabbed the sword.
The sword is there. Yeah. In the hither-nion. No, no, no, in the chamber he was in.
So we're all standing around the sword right now? Yes. So anyway to encapsulate it so it's influenced, doesn't affect us. Could spell lore maybe?
I'm going to roll spell lore. I, uh, it's a six. Oh, can we aid? How's Billy aiding?
Billy is, um, you know, just he's like, go, whoa. I can try to touch. I mean, it touched me already. I have all these wounds.
I was fine there. Plus, bong. Uh, eight. Okay.
So that makes it a seven. Which means something interesting, but not necessarily useful. So you think that this sword is clearly in some way containing a demon. Like there's a demonic influence in the blade.
So you know that you've touched it. And slaughter is likely what you felt. That like rage that just made you want to kill, kill, kill. But you also know that Colm was not just a possessor of the icon of slaughter, but also the icon of honor.
And that might have been what he utilized to get mirrors to return the sword to him. That does not belong to you. Yeah. You have taken what is mine.
Right. So he made him what he made mirrors want to act honorably. Yeah. By giving a murder a sword to kill us with.
I demons are demons. You know, I got the power to pretend she grabbed some rope that is imbued in saffron. No, you have wrote that's imbued in saffron. I just have these saffron candles.
The candles. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
We could wrap it in like a saffron. The handle. Yeah. So I was thinking.
Oh, yeah. And some wax. Yeah. And then if we want to take it into hither and yawn, we could wrap it in like cloth with saffron.
Yeah. I was making making like a sheath that soaked in saffron. Yeah. Burn the candles around it.
Create like a little containment shrine. Yeah. Yeah. Okay.
I think we should take it. Okay. I'll take the candles that I have it all like just goop them and then just goop them around the handle. So we can take your hands and mold and wax.
Yeah. And then we'll have it. So I imagine you guys like wrap the saffron rub around the handle like drag it back to hither and yawn. Yeah.
At the end of the rub like to ting ting ting ting ting ting ting. And then you are doing this containment ritual kind of to make the sword safe. And here's the whole time is like pretty sure I said I didn't want it in here. I know.
Pretty sure. I said we can't leave it out there, man. Oh, sorry. I thought it was moving.
Oh, it's like under a table far away. Evil sword. But yeah, I think there's probably enough waxer that we can just melt it all over it. Yeah.
And then surround it in it. Cool. Okay. And then wrap it in the cloth that was dipped in saffron.
Like I said. Yeah. Right. So it's now like wrapped in sealed and you just in the lost and found excellent.
A for is off. The sword is contained. What now? Let's close the door and let this thing go to wherever it wants to go.
Oh, wherever it wants to go. Yeah. I don't think it's probably somewhere far away from here. Yeah.
That's interesting. Where do we think it goes? Maybe a. Oh, what?
We open up on beach. Yeah. I was thinking it would be somewhere peaceful. Yeah.
That hiderignon is like enough of that. Yeah. All right. So the shutter slam shut.
Yeah. Mears has like repaired the door enough that it is back on its hinges. And they open on a beautiful sunny beach. It's a little overcast because the fire field is that kind of place where it's like not always bright blue skies.
There's the black sands of this part of the continent with waves rushing. You see in the distance the pillars of the sea of graves. And there's just a beautiful peaceful beach here. What do you guys do?
Billy, he takes an umbrella with him and he lies out on the sand. And he's like. Uh. Right.
Billy has one hit point. Yeah. Oh, yeah. We're doing a rest.
So there's no need for pultuses. Right? Yeah. Are you guys you're spending a day resting?
Yeah. Yes. Yes. 100%.
So it is one day of rest doing nothing else. Yeah. So heal yourself back up to full. It's two days or three days to heal the billet.
Yeah. Billy just when he was a crystal bay, he heard a hippie talk about like the healing powers of the sands. He's like, OK, if I just lay out here, everything will be OK. Yeah.
He's grabbing all the fish was going. Billy, stop eating the sand. I have to sand. I'm not.
Billy. Billy. No. It tastes good.
I mean, I'm not. Are you turning into food or is it going in a sand? Because it's going to come out of sand, but no. And mirrors comes out of OK, mirrors stands in front of the doorway of Heather and Jan and looks outside at all of you.
Like Billy's laying on the beach in the sun is like kind of casting a nice diffuse light through the gray clouds and he takes a deep breath and he steps through the door. No, and he turns around and goes back inside. But I'll make lunch. Check it out.
He's like, I can't have a chlorophobia. No. He's definitely been in there way too long. He's been in there way too long.
He's been there like five years like that. He's going to room give somebody a nightingale syndrome. And I think what we're doing what we got here is like a resting for the day. Thinking, planning, whatever you want to do until an actionable thing that you've decided comes along.
Tech goes into the ocean and cleans his wounds. Oh, salt water in the wounds. It's good for cleaning. It's got to hurt so bad.
Yeah, Billy sees Chuck do that. So he copies it hurts so bad. He's crying. He's screaming crying.
He's just rubbing his forehead like there's so much bacteria. The water I got to put pulled this into the wounds when it goes away. You're talking about the wrong things. Yeah, tech rubs a bunch of sand and dirt.
Oh, God. The hippies said this would do it faster. Oh, it hurts. I think it's because it's like, you know, if it hurts, it's working.
Yeah, it's working. Definitely opening the wounds further than I are. Sitting back and writing down things that I know it's sand and wounds. OK, ocean water in wounds.
It's exfoliating your skin too. Yeah, so that you get new skin which will heal up. You'll faster. The new skin underneath the wound is not injured.
Yeah. So smart talk. I never think of that. It's like peeling the black spot off a potato.
Yeah, like you got to go deep enough. Yeah, this is a hippie that's wandered up. Yeah, it's like peeling up. Like, you know what?
Potatoes? Yeah. When you're trying to like fucking peel potato and it's got a black spot on it. Yeah.
You got to peel down to where it's not gross anymore. Excuse me, sir. Please stop talking to my son. I'm not talking to your son.
I'm talking to the Earth's son, bro. Yeah. We're all the Earth's children. All right.
Vang, Wind River says he's a druid. I am. I'm connected to the waves of the waters and the waves of the sands. It's a name, Driff.
So you guys said you were coming from where? Oh, um, we're on a study abroad trip. Oh, man. That sounds great.
Where are you studying brads? From McCall. Well, you're all from McCall across the Sea of Grades. Yeah.
I don't even think you could do that. I had a buddy. His name was Tiber. He was trying to do a wakeboarding trip across the Sea of Grades.
Totally got fucking eaten by a whale, man. Oh, that sucks. Oh. It's life, you know.
I hope I get eaten by a whale fingers crossed, bro. Return to Mother Nature as she intended. Hey, that's the circle of life, man. I eat the seagrass.
The whale eats me. The whale poops me out, and then I nourish the seagrass, man. Well, there's the sea. I see that.
I hate this guy. Fuck it. Whoa, what are you guys standing in that cave for? And you see, like, Hither and Jan has taken itself to a jumble of rocks that had a rough wooden door.
And you see etched into the stone above it. Like, haphazardly, Hither and Jan. Uh, that's where we're staying. Uh.
I'd cap your own lead though. Yeah. Well, come on, man. You can make some room for your old buddy, Win River, right?
I don't know. We're pretty full up. You guys cool if I take, like, a hot leak or something real quick though? You got a bathroom in there probably, right?
I really don't. I feel like our GM can't really handle another NPC. Uh, I completely disagree. The world can bear the burdens that it creates.
So... And then, at least, I don't know if I like this guy anymore. All right. Just take a hot leak.
Just take a hot leak. In our bathroom? Yeah. Anyways, I just kind of came up because someone mentioned there was a hippie here.
So, like, whatever you guys want to do is cool with me. I need a couple bucks, by the way, if you guys got anything on you. Oh, shit. Do you have shit that you want to sell?
Oh, brother, I am glad you asked. What are you looking for? We're wondering. Do you know, like, the Weinwood vintage of a wine?
Oh. Oh, I see what you're trying to know. Absolutely. That's not something I would have.
What kind of stuff do you have? Like, what's in that cart you're drinking? In my cart? Yeah.
Fucking great question, guys. What is in my cart? So you're looking for some Weinwood? Don't got that.
OK. I actually, I abstain from the spirits, crafted by man, I only partake of the herbs created by the mother earth. So I got some of that, if you want. Wish he's got halfling pike, please.
And I got some healing tinctures of my own creation. Oh, those might not work. Yeah. Can I see this?
What's in them? That's just quick. I have some healing tinctures. Oh, of my own creation.
Oh, those don't work. Rob does definitely take a look. Yeah, I would love to. Check it out, bro.
I'm a bit of a tincturist myself. I tinker in tinctures. He takes the, oh, a filler tincture tincture. And he takes the tarp off his cart.
And he, there's just a pile of shit. It's just a jumbly. He's like, just sick. And he starts pulling stuff out of this pile.
There's like boots and like sleeping bags, and a pillow, and swim trunks. That's how he lives in this cart. OK. So this is just his house.
Yeah. The world is my house. You know? OK.
I kind of like him again. And he pulls out like a handful of like little glass vials of various sizes. Here you go. Check him out.
OK. Pop the lid. Yeah. Give him a little whiff.
Yeah. Smells herbal. Yeah. Yeah.
What's in these? Roll a discern reality. No. Take a six-plus wisdom.
12. You get three questions off that list. What here is useful or valuable to me? Not these.
That's for sure. This dude does not know what he is doing. He has clearly just been taking herbs. Like you're sniffing.
You're like, OK, smarty root. Familiar with that. Echinacea. I'm interesting where to get that.
OK. Like, pry up. This smells like dirt to me. This one smells like there's just dirt in it.
Hmm. What should I be on the lookout for? He's got a bunch of stuff in this cart. If he doesn't know that these don't work, he might not understand something valuable he has here.
So what is something that you find that you're like, oh. Oh, I mean, we're in the principalities. Yeah. You are on the, I would say, your south of Blacklass on the western coast of the firefields, facing the Sea of Graves.
Maybe we roll a D6 and a six is high burning water, like a vial of high burning water. High burning water. Whoa. You got a roll of six on a flat check, one die.
OK, OK. Five to four is saffron, which seems pretty common because of the principalities. That's it. And one to three is brochure for liquor store.
That's totally. Yeah, absolutely. Could just be mysterious tees that look fun. Mysterious tees.
Yeah, mysterious herbs. There's probably towns nearby. You'd have to do some walking around. Here we go.
Here we go. One. Oh, it's just got fucking tea from this guy. Well, you know, it looks like you're looking at tuck in Billy who are absolutely fucked up.
Yeah. You're like, you know what? They could use some soothing tees. OK.
That might be nice. OK. I'll make them of my own. I will not serve them this.
Oh, I see you're perusing my tees, bro. Yeah. One coin. And they're yours.
What? Oh, shit. We do even have cash out of it. Cash out of it.
Whoa. Oh, I see. It's one of those situations. And he puts the tarp back over his cart.
Well, I thought the world was your oyster, just like I was our oyster. Yeah, but like the world is my home, but not my fridge, you know, like I got a bro's got to eat. Well, I'm willing to allow you to partake of these tees if you allow me to partake of your fine establishment. Yeah.
One bowl of soup. You have to eat it. Bowl of soup done, bro. Eat it outside.
Not allowed in the building. What? I had a guy come in my house years ago. I couldn't get him over a month.
Man, I just want to like sit down like in a plush chair, bro. You know, like I want to sit down a plush chair. I want to like be in front of a fireplace and like, look, I'm going to be honest with you guys. I already kind of poke my head in.
