s15e23 Bombolone | Open the Door
from Bombolone Hosted by Vincenzo Albano
Late May in Madrid: San Isidro is over, the Feria del Libro opens tomorrow in the Retiro, and the city is doing that thing it does when it doesn't quite know whether summer has started yet. From that particular Thursday afternoon, Vincenzo puts together a set that moves from a sixty-year-old Detroit soul record — Darrell Banks' Open the Door to Your Heart, a Northern Soul cornerstone that never stopped working — through Hamburg electro (Digitalism), Belgian institution Soulwax, and SAULT, a British collective who publish and vanish and refuse to have faces. Charlotte Gainsbourg carries the weight of three losses in a single track without making it feel like grief. Joe Goddard makes gospel house sound inevitable. Closes with good news, because someone has to. Phileas - Better Days Darrell Banks - Open the Door to Your Heart EMBRZ - Gather Together Digitalism - Zdarlight Anni B Sweet - Adiós con alegría Dyzen - She Likes Soulwax - Perfect We Are Not (Edit) Joe Goddard, Fiorious - New World (Flow) Charlotte Gainsbourg - Deadly Valentine John Gray - Let’s Get the Fuck Out of Here SAULT - Wildfires KALLI - Feel Good Trouble Nick Marks - Good News Bombolone airs every Thursday at 14:00 on Radio Fragola Trieste (104.5 / 104.8 FM).
