Mental health crises are also significant, affecting nearly 1 in 10 U.S. adults, with young adults (18–29) reporting the highest prevalence. A notable 21% of children ages 3 to 17 have been diagnosed with a mental, emotional, or behavioral condition, and approximately half of all lifetime mental illnesses begin by age 14.
